What's New in Non-prod?
QAction 5.38 is now live in non-prod environments! Here's what's new in this release.
This update introduces new capabilities for external user engagement, expands workflow automation, continues the evolution of the modern QAction experience, and delivers a broad set of reliability and usability improvements across the platform.
What's New
External user portal and Login.gov authentication
Agencies can now accept form submissions from users outside their organization through a dedicated external user portal with Login.gov authentication, opening the door to broader public-facing workflows.
Continued modernization of the QAction experience
The modern UI continues to evolve with expanded functionality, including a new Index Document task screen, filter drawer improvements, and more reliable copy-values-forward behavior during batch document upload.
Automated email intake and routing
QAction can now connect to a credentialed mailbox and automatically route incoming messages into the document index queue, reducing manual steps for teams that regularly receive documents by email.
Native round-robin task assignment
Workflows can now distribute tasks evenly across groups using built-in round-robin assignment.
Remote MCP Server — Foundation — Introduces the underlying infrastructure for a multi-user remote MCP server, designed to support secure third-party AI integrations against the QAction API. On-premise availability depends on each environment's security and access requirements.
Platform reliability and forms integrity
Version 5.38 includes behind-the-scenes improvements to form submission processing, workflow routing, and overall platform stability.
Bug Fixes
Email and document preview fixes: Previewing email files now handles attachments correctly, and inactive user accounts now display a clear error message at login rather than an indefinite spinner.
Modern UI fixes and refinements: The parallel workflow task screen now displays the correct assigned user, object types the user cannot access no longer appear in view type selections, and pending tasks no longer appear under the Active Task tab.
Workflow and API fixes: Workflow task completion via the QAction API now correctly accepts BPMN flow IDs as action identifiers, and the Sign Document action now verifies check-in privilege before initiating the signing process.
Forms fixes: Form submissions now process against the published snapshot, cache invalidation and slug handling have been resolved, and submissions linked to a deleted workflow process now complete correctly.
Document handling fixes: Checking in a revised document now correctly routes content to the current configured storage location, SVG export has been restored, and drag-and-drop upload now enforces file type validation.
Usability fixes: Opening a record now respects full-screen and new-tab preferences, the Classification Report no longer shows index field errors, and object field action icons are now fully visible when a selected value exceeds the field width.
