This update brings meaningful enhancements to external user engagement, workflow automation, and the modern QAction experience, along with continued accessibility investment and platform improvements.

New Features
  • Secure Messaging for External Users — External users can now exchange secure messages through the QAction portal, with safeguards in place to ensure external accounts only receive appropriately scoped notifications and links.
  • External Portal Usability Improvements — The external user portal now displays recently submitted forms for easy reference, and form submission confirmation pages include a direct link back to the submission.
  • Enhanced Email Automation in Workflows — The BPMN email node now supports dynamic subject lines with date and field value formatting, process and task variables, recipient field selection with hierarchy expansion, and the ability to attach generated documents. This significantly expands what automated workflow emails can do without custom scripting.
  • Shared Script Library for Workflow Automation — Workflow designers can now create and reuse shared library scripts within a given process, reducing duplication and making complex automations easier to maintain.
  • Modern UI Refinements — Continued progress on modern UI parity, including full work-as-proxy support and Tag field type support.
  • MCP Server Hardening — The remote MCP server introduced in 5.38 receives rate limiting at the tool-call level and observability improvements, including usage and correctness telemetry to ensure AI tool integrations are functioning as expected.
Under-the-Hood Enhancements
  • Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance — Continued accessibility investment this cycle, including a WCAG 2.0 to 2.1 delta assessment, automated axe-style accessibility checks, and scroll behavior improvements.
  • API Proxy Mode — Backend API traffic from the modern UI now routes through a proxy layer, improving security and deployment flexibility.
  • OnlyOffice 9.4.0 Deployment — OnlyOffice 9.4.0, evaluated for breaking changes in 5.38, is now deployed in this release.
  • Document File-Size Metadata — Document file size is now captured and stored as metadata, carried in from the previous cycle.
Bug Fixes
  • Notes can now be edited after they have been saved.
  • Checklist views and saved searches now display correctly in the modern UI.
  • Signing errors in the modern UI are now surfaced as clear, readable messages rather than raw JSON.
  • An orphaned thread issue during application restart has been resolved.
  • A security hardening with internal traffic OnlyOffice callback URL handling has been patched.
